All About Me

My name is Kelly Williams. I am your student's second grade teacher. I have been teaching for 7 years. This is my fifth year at Kennesaw Elementary. I graduated from Kennesaw State University in December of 2003 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I recently attended KSU to complete my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I love teaching!! It is such a rewarding career. It is wonderful to see how much children mature and grow in only one year together. I have been married for three years to a wonderful man named Cameron.

 

We are expecting our first baby on April 14th.

 

We have two dogs named Chase and Maya.

Math- Subtraction with regrouping

Subtraction with regrouping can be difficult for most children.  Please practice some problems daily.  Also, children need to get the basic facts down as well.  Using the flashcards that I sent home,  you can create fun games to play. Example:  memory with subtraction facts and subtraction bingo.

Book Fair and Donuts for Dads

The Book Fair is starting on Tuesday, October 20th- Friday, October 23rd. More information will be coming home to you. Also, PTSA will be sponsoring Donuts for Dads during that week. The dates are on the October calendar in your child's take home folder.

 

Jump Rope For Heart

Our annual fundraiser for the American Heart Association is coming up soon. We will be having a pep rally on Monday to get the students excited about this great opportunity to raise money for such a worthy cause.

Mystery Reader

We had our first mystery reader today. Thank you Mrs. Anglin. The students really enjoyed it. Our dates are full until after the holidays, but I would love for you to email me if you are interested in reading a story to our class starting in January.

Parents our SIP ( School Improvement Plan)goal in math is for our children to be able to solve 100 addition facts in 7 minutes.  Also, students should be able to solve 100 subtraction facts in 7 minutes.  This is an end of the year goal and students are not expected to be able to do this now.  It is a work in progress.  Please use the following sites for extra practice at home.  We are also working on this daily in our math stations.
