2008, The Year To Do Great!

Welcome back for 2008!  We are about half way through the school year.  We have learned so much and yet so many new skills to begin.  This half of the year kindergarten will be practicing independence in preparation for first grade.  First grade is improving their multi-step verbal directions, as there will be many of those in second grade.  Second grade is mastering responsibility because they will have a lot at Big Shanty in the third grade.  But no need to panic, we still have a half a year.  I know this year will be just as great, if not better, than 2007!

Fall

It is now fall of 2007.  Time flies when you are having fun.  Observe the trees and weather with your child.  Point out some of the changes in the fall.  Improve their language skills with a game of "I Spy" while in the car. 

Our writing and reading skills are improving as we dig deeper into the curriculum.  Please remember to practice the sight words with your child.  Have them read to you or with you daily.  After reading discuss the story to help improve comprehension. 

Welcome Back

Welcome back to all of my returning students and welcome to all of my new students.  I am looking forward to yet another successful year at Kennesaw Elementary.  We are now in the third week of school, and I am so proud of the knowledge and effort my students are putting forth.  We are currently working on writing simple directions, using the key terms: first, next, then, and last.  We are also learning our sight words to improve our reading fluency.  Remember to read with your child daily!!!
