Social Studies

We are beginning a new unit in Social Studies about Georgia.  We will be using a map to locate Georgia and major cities located within Georgia.  We will also be learning about the different regions and what landforms are located in these regions.  We will also be reading a map key, using a compass rose, and learning about cardinal directions.

Math

Last week we started double digit addition with regrouping.  We will continue regrouping this week, as well.  Everyone is working hard and doing a great job regrouping!  Look for homework sometime this week.

Welcome Back to School!

Welcome back to Kennesaw Elementary!  I'm looking forward to a great year!   We had a wonderful first day!  I really enjoyed meeting the children.  Our lunch this year is scheduled from 10:50-11:20.  Please join us anytime for lunch.  Our specials time will be from 1:20-2:00.  The specials calendar was sent home today. We're going to have a wonderful school year!

Please make sure you are sending a healthy snack with your child everyday.  I would also  encourage you to bring a water bottle to school.

Bus Heat/Safety

Transportation protocol to begin August 5, 2010, the first day of school;

Bus drivers will allow ALL students K-12, to bring water only on the bus during their AM & PM bus rides. Water containers should have a secure twist-on lid. No cups with snap on lids and no straws please. We will follow this protocol until further notice. We anticipate following this protocol through the month of September.

Buses will operate with windows fully open and utilizing roof hatches in the correct position to optimize air flow.

School will be dismissed at 1:30  on Thursday, May 20, 2010 and Friday, May 21, 2010.   

Bookbags and lunchboxes are not allowed on the last day of school.  Please send lunches in disposable bags.
