Each week students in Mrs. Fenstermaker's Fantastic First Grade Class should complete the following for homework:
1. Read to your parents each day (or at least four days during the week) and list books read on your reading log. Don't forget to return completed reading logs for a prize from the treasure box!
2. Practice the phonics words that are listed in the weekly homework packet. These words have spelling patterns. Try to create more words to fit the same patterns.
3. Complete the math homework packet that is sent home weekly. The activities in the math packet correspond with what we are learning in class.
4. If you have not learned all 200 of your first grade sight words, remember to practice reading these words each day. Remember sight words are words that are seen with great frequency in children's texts. Students need to be able to read sight words within 3 seconds of looking at them. These are not words that should be "sounded out."
