January Lessons

First Grade begins the new year with learning the program Kidspiration.  They create a bubble map or web that helps them to organize their writing.  Their Essential Questions are "How do I use the cursor to enter text?" and "How do I use the picture library to insert an image?"  Their first project is to create a web about themselves.

Second Grade reviews Graph Club which they learned last year. Their Essential Questions are "How can charts, tables and graphs help me organize and understand data?" and "How can I use the program Graph Club to create and edit graphs?"  Their first project is to create a graph using symbols of their choice, add data, and use the notebook to tell what the graph means.

Kidspiration

First and second grade students are learning how to use the webbing program Kidspiration.   This is a wonderful program that helps them organize their writing into topics and sub topics.  Both grades have enjoyed creating a picture web about themselves.  Many first grade classes have also created pictures about the 4 seasons.  Second grade students are continuing their practice of Kidspiration by creating a web about Georgia.  All of these projects are being printed so ask your child to show you their work!
